PSED
Have you ever pondered over any of the following?
- How do I remember my garden’s scent, from my childhood even today? Can early experience leave everlasting impact?
- What culminated me into the person I am today
- What makes every child unique?
- Is it the effect of ‘genes’ or ‘nurture’, on one’s personality?
Well, the answer to all of the above is the same.
It is the influence of parents, peer, one’s temperament, a strong sense of self, and sometimes critical life experiences that shapes one’s personal, social & emotional development.
What does PSED means for young children?
- All babies are born with innate competency to flourish. Being special for someone, and well cared for is important for a child’s physical, social and emotional well-being.
- Children gain confidence and inner strength through secure attachments with their close people, who are often around to constantly acknowledge and affirm their gestures.
- Close relationships provide a secure base to explore the world thereby paving way to self-assurance, and promoting a sense of belonging.
